Description

He rides the peacock, wields the vel, and has been worshipped in silver since temple priests first pressed his image into molten metal. This pendant renders Lord Murugan, the warrior son of Shiva, in sterling silver with a quiet precision that belongs to the long tradition of devotional silverwork practised across Tamil Nadu and the Deccan. The profile is compact but unhurried: standing at approximately 3.94 cm height and 2.29 cm width, the figure carries the vel spear and the weight of iconographic fidelity in equal measure. The silver surface is worked in relief, allowing shadow to define the god's form against the plain ground, much as temple craftsmen have always trusted the metal itself to carry the narrative. At 5.37 grams, the pendant sits close to the chest without pulling at the chain, its finish a warm, oxidised silver that honours tradition over polish. Wear it on a fine silver chain beneath a Kanjivaram silk at a wedding puja, letting the pendant rest against the silk's sheen as a quiet act of devotion. For daily wear, it pairs naturally with a cotton kurta, the sterling catching light as you move through an ordinary morning made briefly sacred. The free-size bail accommodates most chain gauges, from a slim 1 mm rope to a slightly heavier box chain. Sterling silver of this weight requires only occasional gentle cleaning to retain its character, and improves, as all good silver does, with the warmth of being worn.
