Description

There are devotions that do not shout; they simply rest, close to the heart. This sterling silver pendant carries the form of Lord Krishna in high relief, rendered in the devotional silversmithing tradition that has long been practised across temple-jewellery centres from Bengal to the Deccan. The figure is worked with quiet precision: the characteristic peacock-feather crown, the gentle contrapposto of a weight-bearing hip, the flute held in slender fingers. Sterling silver, known for its cool, bright lustre and its receptiveness to fine chasing and repoussé work, lends the image a restrained luminosity that gold cannot replicate. At one and a half inches in height (approximately 3.8 cm) and half an inch in width (approximately 1.3 cm), the pendant is intimate in scale, its four grams of silver sitting without heaviness against the chest. Wear it on a simple silver chain beneath a handloom cotton kurta for daily prayer or quiet mornings; or layer it over a fine silk blouse at a puja gathering, where its devotional character reads as both personal talisman and considered adornment. The free-size bail accommodates chains of varying thickness without distortion. Sterling silver develops a gentle patina with wear, which only deepens the relief; a soft cloth restores its original brightness. At just four grams, it is light enough for all-day wear without adjustment.
