Description

There are devotions that require no words, only silver. This pendant carries a bust portrait of Lord Krishna rendered in sterling silver and finished in the antique tradition, where controlled oxidation deepens every carved hollow and throws each raised line of the face, the crown and the peacock feather into quiet relief. The technique belongs to a long lineage of devotional silverwork practised across Rajasthan and Bengal, where karigar families have spent generations pressing narrative and reverence into white metal. At one inch in height and 0.7 inches in width (approximately 2.5 cm by 1.8 cm), the silhouette is intimate rather than declarative. Weighing ten grams, the sterling silver has genuine heft for its scale, and the warm grey of the antique finish gives the piece the quality of an heirloom rather than a purchase. Worn on a simple black silk cord, this pendant sits beautifully against a cream chanderi kurta for a morning puja or a family gathering during Janmashtami. Equally, it reads with understated devotion against the neckline of a plain cotton sari, where its antiqued surface needs no competition. The pendant comes in a single free size with a standard bail suited to both chains and cords. The oxidised finish is stable under everyday wear, though it deepens gradually with time and touch, which is, perhaps, exactly as it should be with silver that carries such a face.
