Description

There are devotions that ask for nothing more than a quiet, daily remembrance. This pendant carries Lord Ganesha in cast brass, a metal long favoured in temple towns across South India and the artisan quarters of Rajasthan for its warmth, weight and willingness to hold fine detail. The figure is rendered with the care that belongs to votive objects: the rounded belly, the upturned trunk, the suggestion of a crown pressed into the surface. Brass, when worked well, develops a golden ochre tone that deepens with wear, ageing not into tarnish but into character. At one and a quarter inches in height (approximately 3.2 cm) and just under seven-eighths of an inch in width (approximately 2.2 cm), the silhouette is compact yet present, weighing a considered 6.1 grams, enough to be felt against the skin without burden. Suspend it on a fine black silk thread for everyday puja mornings, paired with a soft cotton kurta in ivory or saffron. For festive occasions, set it on a slender gold-toned chain against a silk blouse or a woven Chanderi saree in terracotta or deep green. The pendant comes in a single, free-size format designed to suit most chain weights and cord thicknesses. Brass requires only an occasional wipe with a dry cloth and, where needed, a gentle rub with a soft brush to restore its honey-warm surface.
