Description

He sits in stillness, and the world learns from his silence. Dakshinamurti, the south-facing form of Shiva who teaches through serene contemplation, has been honoured in South Indian temple iconography for centuries. This sterling-silver pendant captures that seated, meditative figure with the quiet fidelity of a craftsman steeped in the Nagercoil and Tamil Nadu temple-jewellery tradition, where devotional imagery is rendered not for spectacle but for intimacy. The reverse carries the Tamil OM, that oldest of sacred syllables rendered in its classical script, making this a genuinely two-sided piece. Cast and finished in sterling silver, it weighs a composed 3 grams and measures approximately 1.2 inches in height and 0.7 inches in width (roughly 3 centimetres by 1.8 centimetres). The surface has the clean, cool finish that sterling silver acquires when worked with patience rather than polish. Wear it on a fine silver chain against a Kanjivaram silk for a puja morning that begins with intention. It sits equally well against a white cotton kurta on an ordinary Tuesday, a small reminder of the extraordinary carried close to the skin. The free-size pendant is practical enough for daily devotion. Sterling silver at this weight sits flat, does not pull, and develops a gentle patina over time that deepens rather than diminishes its character. A soft cloth brings back its brightness whenever you wish it.
