Description

There are teachers whose wisdom outlasts every dynasty, and this pendant carries the weight of one. Cast in sterling silver and shaped to a slender portrait format measuring 1.3 inches (approximately 3.3 cm) in height and 0.6 inches (approximately 1.5 cm) in width, the pendant renders Lord Brihaspati with the ceremonial gravity his iconography demands. As Guru of the Devas, the presiding deity of Jupiter and the patron of learning, sacred rites and eloquence, he appears here in high-relief silverwork, his form etched with the fine linework characteristic of devotional silver casting practised across Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu. The sterling silver surface carries a controlled oxidised finish that draws the eye into every carved detail, the grooves deepened to near-charcoal while the raised planes hold a restrained polish. At 3.9 grams, the piece sits with quiet substance rather than showiness. On Thursdays, the day consecrated to Brihaspati, this pendant reads beautifully against a cream or saffron silk kurta, worn close to the chest on a fine silver chain. It is equally at home with contemporary linen separates for someone who carries their devotion without announcement. The free-size pendant suits any standard chain fitting, and the sterling silver construction resists tarnish well with minimal care. Its compact proportions mean it does not catch or snag, making it practical for daily wear across work, study and worship alike.
