Description

The peacock never stills, even in silver. Carved into sterling silver at just 1.3 inches tall (roughly 3.3 cm) and three-quarters of an inch wide (approximately 1.9 cm), this pendant traces the peacock in its fullest authority: tail fanned, neck arched, every feather implied by the silversmith's careful chisel work. At the heart of the composition, an iolite stone sits in a close bezel setting, its violet-blue depth shifting with the light the way a peacock's plumage shifts at dusk. Iolite, that quietly aristocratic gem, has long been favoured in Indian silver jewellery for the way it holds colour without demanding attention. The sterling silver ground is worked to a finish that balances brightness with warmth, giving the piece the character of something both newly crafted and quietly old. The peacock itself belongs to a vocabulary shared across Rajasthani and South Indian silver traditions, where the bird is never decorative alone but always ceremonial, carrying with it the weight of divine association. Wear it on a fine silver chain against a silk kurta in ivory or deep teal, where the iolite reads like a bruised sky. It suits a sheer cotton saree blouse equally well, lending a point of focus without competing with the weave. At 3.45 grams, this pendant sits light against the collarbone, comfortable through long occasions. The pendant bail accommodates most standard chains. No clasp is required at the pendant itself; it pairs with any chain of your choosing.
