Description

The lion has always been a symbol that commands stillness. Carved from sterling silver in high relief, this pendant brings the lion face to life through the silversmith's chisel rather than through cast repetition. Each plane of the mane, the ridge of the brow, the open-mouthed roar frozen mid-declaration, is worked by hand in a tradition that draws from the bold figural silverwork long practised across Rajasthan and the Deccan. Sterling silver, known for its cool lustre and dependable integrity, takes engraving and relief carving with particular fidelity, holding shadow in the recesses and catching light across the raised surfaces. The pendant measures approximately 3.8 cm in height and 3 cm in width, and weighs a considered 9.1 grams, substantial enough to feel deliberate against the collarbone without overwhelming it. For daywear, it pairs beautifully with a fine ivory or ecru linen kurta, where its silvery presence reads as both authoritative and quietly refined. For evenings, thread it on a longer oxidised silver chain over a deep jewel-toned silk blouse, and the lion's expression takes on an almost theatrical gravity. The free-size pendant accommodates a range of chains and cords, from a slim box chain to a thick twisted rope. The sterling silver will develop a gentle patina over time; a soft cloth restore its original brightness whenever desired.
