Description

A leaf caught mid-tremble, pressed into sterling silver and worn on the hand. The ring takes its shape from a single stylised leaf, its surface worked in sterling silver to hold every vein and contour of the form. Sterling, long favoured in Indian craft for its cool lustre and workable temperament, lends itself here to a naturalistic idiom that sits somewhere between the botanical jewellery traditions of Bengal and the quieter silverwork of the Deccan hills. No stone interrupts the composition; the metal itself carries all the ornament, its finish catching light the way a leaf does after rain. The band is adjustable, opening gently at the back to accommodate different fingers without the rigidity of a set shank. At 0.55 inches (approximately 1.4 cm) in height and 5.1 grams, the piece is present without being heavy, sculptural without demanding attention. Worn alone, it reads as a considered everyday choice, particularly against the block-printed cotton kurtas of a working morning or the fine-knit separates of a London autumn. For a festive occasion, pair it with a silk tissue saree in muted gold or ivory and let the silver leaf play quietly against the weave. The adjustable band suits most fingers when sized between 6 and 8, and the sterling construction means it holds its shape through daily wear. A soft cloth is all it needs to restore its natural brightness after time.
