Description

There are pieces that do not ask for attention; they simply hold it. This large sterling silver pendant is a study in abundance, its broad silhouette measuring six and a half centimetres tall by roughly four centimetres wide and carrying a settled weight of twenty-nine and a half grams that speaks at once of substance and intention. Multiple gemstones are set across its face in a configuration that draws on the Indian silversmith's long tradition of working coloured stone into oxidised or burnished silver, a craft practised with particular fluency in the ateliers of Rajasthan and the hill workshops of the Northeast. The stones introduce pools of colour against the cool, matte-bright ground of sterling silver, each secured in a bezel or collet setting that protects the gem while keeping the surface uncluttered. The silhouette is architectural, expansive without being heavy-handed, and the reverse carries the clean finish that marks careful hand-finishing rather than rushed casting. Worn against a deep indigo block-print kurta, it anchors the neckline with authority. Paired with a simple ivory silk blouse and wide-leg trousers, it becomes the single considered gesture an understated outfit requires. At free size, the pendant accepts any chain or cord the wearer prefers, from a fine silver rope to a braided silk thread. Sterling silver at this weight wears durably through daily use; store it wrapped in soft cloth away from perfume, and the surface will hold its character across years.
