Description

There are stones that hold light the way still water holds the sky. This large pendant is worked in sterling silver around a generously faceted blue chalcedony of exceptional clarity, its surfaces cut to draw the eye inward through layers of cool, translucent blue. The stone is set at the centre of a bold, sculptural silver mount whose weight and spread, measuring approximately 9.7 cm in height and 8.9 cm in width, mark it immediately as a statement piece rather than a quiet accent. Sterling silver, chosen here for its warmth and workability, allows the silversmith to build depth into the bezel and frame without crowding the stone. The chalcedony itself, in its characteristic milky, aqueous blue, has long been favoured by craftspeople in the silver jewellery traditions of Rajasthan and the artisan workshops of Jaipur, where bold gemstones are mounted with confident, architectural frames. At 50 grams, the pendant has a satisfying, unhurried presence on the hand before it is worn. Pair it with a silk kurta in ivory or dusty rose for a wedding-adjacent occasion where you wish to anchor an otherwise minimal look. It reads equally well against a linen shirt in ecru worn with wide-leg trousers for a considered daytime gathering. The pendant comes as a free-size piece, suited to most chain lengths. The silver's satin finish resists the fussiness of high polish, making it a piece one reaches for naturally, season after season.
