Description

There are stones that carry the sky inside them, and lapis lazuli is chief among them. This circular ring centres a full, uninterrupted disc of deep-blue lapis lazuli within a sterling silver bezel, its surface carrying that characteristic midnight ground threaded with pale pyrite veins. The silhouette is deliberately round and generous, rising three quarters of an inch (approximately 1.9 cm) from the finger, so the stone reads as an unbroken field of colour rather than a faceted gem. Sterling silver, chosen here over gold, gives the setting a quieter authority, its cool lustre stepping back to let the lapis speak. The tradition of pairing lapis with silver runs through the jewellery workshops of Rajasthan and into older Mughal treasury practice, where the stone was prized for its unmodified, powdery depth. At six grams, the ring carries a satisfying weight without heaviness, and the smooth bezel finish ensures nothing snags. Wear it against a cream or ecru kurta in a fine cotton weave, where the blue becomes almost architectural. It is equally at ease with a silk sari in ivory or pale gold, anchoring the hand without competing with an embroidered border. Available in size 6 only, this ring fits a standard Indian ring size and weighs six grams, sitting close enough to the finger that the height of the stone does not impede movement. The sterling silver will develop a gentle patina over time; a soft cloth restores its original finish in moments.
