Description

She arrives bearing lotus and vessel, cast in silver that carries the quiet authority of the temple gopuram. This pendant draws from the South Indian temple jewellery tradition, where Lakshmi, goddess of abundance and auspice, is rendered with the exactitude that Nagercoil and Kumbakonam karigars have long reserved for sacred adornment. Worked in sterling silver, the surface is treated with oxidised detailing to draw out the relief of the goddess's figure: her seated posture, the flanking lotus blooms, the characteristic symmetry of pratima iconography. Every element is pressed and chased rather than sketched in, giving the motif the dimensional quality of a votive panel shrunk to pendant scale. At one inch height (approximately 2.5 cm) by 0.8 inch width (approximately 2 cm), the piece is composed and precise without being miniature to the point of losing its presence. Wear this pendant against a silk chanderi kurta for a festive afternoon, where the silver's cool lustre reads as intentional restraint. For a wedding reception, layer it over a deeper-cut blouse and pair with temple-set silver bangles to honour the full idiom. Sterling silver at this scale and weight, approximately 2,500 grams in listed unit terms, is hallmark-grade and suited to daily devotion as much as occasion dressing. The standard bail accommodates most chain widths, and the oxidised finish ages gracefully without demanding specialist care.
