Description

There are prayers you carry close to the skin, and this is one of them. Cast in sterling silver and shaped as a devotional coin barely three centimetres across, this piece belongs to the ancient grammar of Temple jewellery, where the sacred and the wearable have always been the same thing. At its heart sit Lakshmi and Ganesha, the paired deities of abundance and auspicious beginning, rendered with the careful linework that South Indian silversmithing, particularly the tradition nurtured around Nagercoil and the temple towns of Tamil Nadu, has long made its signature. The coin's surface carries the worked relief of classical iconography, devotional in origin yet entirely composed in wear. At ten grams, the sterling silver sits with real presence without burden, the metal bright in its natural finish, unmixed and honest. Wear it threaded on a fine silver chain against a silk Kanjeevaram for a festival puja, where it reads as both jewel and offering. Equally, it settles beautifully over a white cotton kurta on ordinary days, a quiet insistence that the everyday, too, deserves grace. The coin measures one point two inches, roughly three centimetres, in diameter, a size that centres the chest without overwhelming a neckline. Free sized in its pendant form, it suits any chain gauge you already own. Sterling silver at this weight stays light through long hours and polishes easily with a soft cloth, returning its warm brightness between wearings.
