Description

There are shrines you carry with you, and then there are shrines you wear. This sterling silver coin pendant draws from the living tradition of South Indian temple jewellery, where the divine is rendered not in suggestion but in declaration. At three inches in diameter (approximately 7.6 cm), the disc commands presence: Lakshmi on one face, Ganesha on the other, each deity worked in high-relief repoussé that catches light the way a sanctum lamp does at dusk. The border carries the fine stippled and engraved detailing characteristic of temple-craft workshops, where silversmiths trained in devotional iconography give every petal and crown its proper grammar. At 250 grams, the weight is substantial and intentional, the kind that settles against the chest like an act of conviction rather than ornament. The sterling silver is left in its natural bright finish, ungilded, allowing the metal's cool luminosity to carry the imagery without distraction. Wear it long over a silk Kanjeevaram for a wedding or naming ceremony, where its scale reads as a considered statement rather than excess. Equally, layer it over a high-neck ivory kurta for a Puja afternoon, letting the coin rest at the sternum as a quiet declaration of faith. The free-size pendant fits any chain or cord of standard thickness. Its solid construction requires no special storage beyond keeping it away from moisture. A piece this considered ages into a family heirloom without effort.
