Description

There is a particular stillness to a well-set Kundan ring, as though the stone itself has chosen to rest there permanently. This piece belongs to the Jaipur tradition of Kundan setting, where a base of worked brass is built up layer by layer before the gem foil is laid and the stones pressed into their beds of refined lac. The technique demands patience: each stone is edged with fine gold-toned strips of brass that hold it without a claw in sight, creating that characteristic flush, luminous face peculiar to Kundan work. The ring is offered in two distinct moods, a deep lapis-toned blue and a warm marigold orange, each colour shifting the character of the piece entirely. The brass body is finished to a warm gold tone, lending the ring a weight and seriousness that belies its price. No precious metal is claimed here, only honest craft. Wear the blue colourway with an ivory Chanderi kurta set for a daytime puja or a festive lunch; pair the orange with a rust or deep green silk sari for an evening gathering where you wish the hand to speak quietly but clearly. Because the ring is crafted in brass rather than gold or silver, it is lightweight on the finger and suited to daily wear without anxiety. The Kundan face sits flat enough for comfortable layering with plain band rings. Sizing guidance from the seller is advisable before ordering, as no dimensional measurements have been specified for this piece.
