Description

There are rings, and then there are rings that carry the memory of a court. This Kundan ring is worked in brass, its broad face set in the classical flat-foiled Kundan manner, where slivers of 24-karat gold leaf are pressed between polished stones and the metal base to create that signature lambent glow. The technique belongs to the ateliers of Jaipur, where karigar families have spent generations perfecting the art of setting uncut or cabochon glass stones without prongs, relying instead on refined gold leaf and patience. The ring's face reads as a central floral or geometric medallion, the stones held in a shallow bezel of layered foil, the brass base lending the piece a warm, burnished depth that mimics the antique gold of older Rajput pieces. There are no sharp edges, only the rounded continuity of a craftsman who knows when to stop. Wear it against the ivory of a chanderi kurta at a mehendi afternoon, where it holds its own without competing with heavier sets. For a contemporary evening, it sits equally well alongside a silk co-ord in deep rust or forest green, anchoring the hand with quiet ceremony. Measurements for this piece have not been specified by the maker; buyers are advised to write to us with their finger size before ordering. The brass construction keeps the ring light for all-day wear, and its surface takes handling without losing its lustre over time.
