Description

There is something in a Kundan ring that asks to be noticed slowly. Worked in brass and finished with the flat-set, foil-backed stones that are the signature of Jaipur's Kundan tradition, this ring rises to a height of one inch (approximately 2.5 cm), its face broad enough to carry the layered setting with real authority. Kundan is among the oldest of Indian jewellery disciplines: each stone is pressed into refined gold-like foil seats by a karigar whose hands know the precise give of the metal, the exact pressure that secures lac beneath the surface. Here, the same vocabulary is translated into brass, making the craft accessible without diminishing the visual weight of the finished piece. The three colourways, a festival-ready multi-stone arrangement, a warm peach, and a soft pink, each shift the mood of the setting from celebratory to quietly romantic, allowing the wearer to choose her own register. Wear the multi-stone version with a silk chanderi kurta and pearl studs for a Diwali gathering; the peach or pink reads beautifully against ivory and cream at a daytime mehendi or bridal shower, adding exactly the warmth that gold-tone jewellery provides when natural light falls across it. The brass base is lightweight and forgiving across extended wear. The domed Kundan face sits flush enough for comfort and high enough to make its presence felt. Available in multi, peach, and pink, this is a piece for those who understand that good craft does not always come with a heavy price.
