Description

There are rings, and then there are the ones that make a hand worth watching. This Kundan ring from the Exotic India atelier belongs to the courtly tradition of Rajasthan, where the art of setting unfoiled glass or semi-precious stones into a gold-toned base has been practised for centuries in the workshops of Jaipur. Here, that same rigorous sensibility is translated into polished brass, a metal long trusted in ceremonial jewellery for the warmth it lends to colour. The central Kundan setting, worked in the characteristic flat-set manner, holds its stone within a frame of precisely shaped foil-backed cells, each pressed into place by hand. The raised bezel and the spreading floral or geometric surround follow the classical proportions that Rajasthani karigars have refined across generations, where every line earns its place and nothing is merely decorative. Wear this ring with a silk chanderi kurta at a mehendi or a festive afternoon gathering, where its warm brass and Kundan face will read beautifully against embroidered cloth. It pairs equally well with a handloom cotton sari for a literary or cultural evening, where restraint and artistry matter more than volume. Measurements are not specified, so buyers are encouraged to confirm sizing with Exotic India before ordering. The brass construction keeps the ring light on the finger and resistant to the stresses of daily wear, while the Kundan face, once set, holds its stones securely through regular use.
