Description

There are rings you wear, and rings that wear the weight of an entire tradition. Kundan, at its heart, is the art of setting uncut stones within a pure gold foil surround, pressing each piece into a lattice of refined wax until the stone and its bed become one continuous surface. This ring, wrought in brass and finished in the Kundan manner, carries that sensibility into an everyday form: a flat-faced setting where paste or glass stones sit locked within raised gold-toned bezels, the surrounding metalwork burnished to a warm, faintly antique glow. The tradition traces to the royal ateliers of Jaipur and Bikaner, where karigars have long worked seated on the floor, turning each piece slowly in lamplight, testing the tension of every foil cup by feel. Brass here serves as the honest base, allowing the surface treatment and stone placement to speak without the weight of heavier metals. Worn on the index or middle finger, this ring reads with equal assurance against a cream Chanderi kurta at a Sunday lunch or alongside a silk saree at an evening mehendi. It layers quietly with plain gold or silver bands, never competing, always adding a considered accent of colour and craft. Measurements and weight are not specified for this piece, so it is advisable to consult the size guide before ordering. The brass construction keeps it light for all-day wear, and the Kundan-style setting, sealed and smooth at its surface, requires no special maintenance beyond occasional gentle cleaning.
