Description

There is a quietness to this ring that speaks before you do. Kundan work is among the oldest jewellery traditions of the Indian subcontinent, refined over centuries in the ateliers of Jaipur and the royal courts that patronised them. In this technique, a setting of fine lac and foil is built up painstakingly within a metal framework, and flat-cut stones are pressed flush into it, held not by prongs but by pure pressure and the steady hands of a skilled karigar. Here, that tradition is rendered in brass, a metal long favoured for its warmth and its willingness to hold gilded finishes without apology. The ring is offered in two colours, green and pink, each stone catching light differently: the green reading as cool and considered, the pink as festive and tender. Both colourways carry the characteristic Kundan brightness without pretension. Wear the green stone with a raw silk kurta in ivory or deep teal for an afternoon darbar gathering; wear the pink alongside delicate gold-tone bangles at a mehendi or a close family wedding where the occasion calls for joy rather than formality. The brass base makes this a practical companion for everyday wear alongside occasional ceremony. It sits lightly on the finger and requires no special upkeep beyond keeping it away from moisture and perfume. Suitable for those coming to Kundan for the first time, and for those who already know why they return to it.
