Description

There are rings, and then there are declarations worn at the fingertip. This Kundan ring speaks in the idiom of Rajputana, where the art of setting unfoiled and foiled glass stones into a gold-polished base has endured for centuries. Crafted in brass and finished to a warm, burnished tone, the ring carries a Kundan-set face in which stones are pressed into a bed of lac and enclosed within fine gold-polished margins, a technique rooted in the ateliers of Jaipur. The setting creates that characteristic flat, luminous surface, the stones sitting flush and confident, catching light without demanding it. Brass, long used as an accessible base for Kundan work, lends the piece a satisfying heft and a colour that sits close to gold when finished with care. The motif follows the traditional floral or geometric vocabulary of Rajasthani rings: composed, centred and quietly ceremonial. Wear it with a fine cotton or georgette kurta for a festive afternoon gathering, where it reads as considered rather than costumed. It pairs equally well with a silk sari blouse for a wedding guest ensemble that does not overshadow the bride. Sized for everyday ease, the ring arrives ready to wear and requires no special storage beyond keeping it away from water and perfume, both of which can affect brass over time. The Kundan face, set in lac, is resilient under gentle wear. A piece priced at Rs 3,295, made for those who value craft over ostentation.
