Description

There are rings, and then there are rings that speak before you do. This Kundan ring is wrought in brass, its base worked to receive the flat-set, foil-backed stones that Kundan setting demands: each gem pressed into a continuous band of refined gold leaf-like alloy, held not by prongs but by the patient hand of the setter, much as the karigars of Jaipur have done for centuries. The silhouette is characteristically Mughal in its generosity, the face of the ring carrying a central stone cluster ringed by smaller satellites, all resting within a frame whose edges are burnished smooth. Brass, rather than gold, makes this tradition accessible without apology; the metal takes the Kundan process honestly, and the warm amber undertone of the base complements the cool luminosity of the set stones with quiet conviction. Worn to a friend's mehendi, it anchors a hand already painted in henna. Paired with a silk chanderi kurta and oxidised earrings for a literary evening or gallery opening, it holds its own without competing. Because no dimensions or weight have been recorded for this piece, we recommend trying it against your existing rings before ordering; our sizing guide is available on request. The brass construction keeps the ring light on the finger across a long day. The Kundan surface requires no special care beyond keeping it away from water and perfume, and it will reward you with lasting brilliance. Priced at Rs 3,095.
