Description

There are rings that adorn a finger, and there are rings that begin a conversation. This Kundan ring is rendered in brass, its base worked and shaped to carry the flat-set, foil-backed stones that define the Kundan tradition. Originating in the royal ateliers of Rajasthan, Kundan work involves pressing refined wax and lac into a metal frame, then setting uncut or cabochon stones flush against a reflective gold or silver foil, so that the gem appears to glow from within rather than merely sit upon the surface. Here, brass replaces gold as the ground metal, making the craft accessible without diminishing the visual grammar of the form. The setting is likely a central stone encircled by a layered border, the silhouette broad and architectural, in the manner of Jaipur's celebrated ring traditions. The finish reads warm and antiqued, consistent with how brass ages into its character. Worn with a silk anarkali or a heavily worked dupatta for a festive gathering, this ring holds its own against the grandest occasion jewellery. Equally, it rewards a quieter pairing: a plain cotton kurta at a daytime celebration, where it becomes the single deliberate ornament that says everything. No measurements or weight have been specified for this piece, so sizing is best confirmed with the seller before purchase. Brass requires occasional gentle cleaning to maintain its lustre, but rewards that small attention with years of warmth. Priced at Rs 3,095.
