Description

There are rings, and then there are rings that carry a whole courtly tradition on a single finger. Kundan work is one of the oldest jewellery disciplines of the Rajput ateliers, refined over centuries in the workshops of Jaipur where karigars press highly refined lac into a gold-toned base and set glass or semi-precious stones flush against it, stone by stone, without prong or claw. Here, that tradition translates into brass, a metal long favoured in folk and devotional jewellery for its warm, antique-gold resonance. The face of the ring is set in the classic Kundan manner: a central stone held in a bed of lac, surrounded by smaller satellite settings in a floral or medallion arrangement, the whole surface glowing with that characteristic opaque, almost enamel-like stillness. Brass takes a rich oxidised finish naturally, lending the piece a patina that feels inherited rather than manufactured. Wear it against a silk chanderi kurta at a mehendi or a festive lunch, where it reads as quietly ceremonial. On a plain white cotton kurta with a pair of jhumkas, it becomes the single considered detail that anchors the whole look. Because specific measurements were not provided for this piece, sizing is best confirmed with the Exotic India team before ordering. The brass base keeps the ring light and comfortable for extended wear, and the Kundan surface, protected by its lac bed, holds well with gentle daily handling. Priced at Rs 2,795, it offers considered craft at an accessible point.
