Description

There are rings, and then there are rings that carry an entire grammar of ornament within a single bezel. This Kundan ring in brass is rooted in the courtly tradition of Rajasthan, where setting unfoiled or foiled glass stones within a bed of refined lac and gold leaf has been practised for centuries. Brass here performs the supporting role honestly, its warm undertone harmonising with the Kundan-set centrepiece rather than competing with it. The bezel is built up in layers, as the technique demands: a base of lac pressed firmly into the mount, stones pressed in by hand, then bordered with fine gold-toned foils that hold everything in place without prongs or claws. Available in two distinct colourways, mint and red, the ring shifts register entirely depending on which you choose. Mint carries a delicate, almost archival restraint; red belongs to the vocabulary of the deeply festive. At twelve grams, it carries perceptible presence on the finger without fatigue. Wear the red colourway with a deep-toned silk saree and a single Kundan maang tikka for a wedding guest ensemble that reads as considered rather than overdressed. The mint version pairs equally well with ivory or sage chanderi for a mehendi afternoon, where its cool tone reads as quietly contemporary. The ring weighs twelve grams, a weight that confirms quality construction without heaviness. Brass requires simple care: keep it away from water and store it dry. Both colourways are available, and the piece is sized to suit most adult fingers comfortably.
