Description
There is a particular pleasure in wearing colour at your fingertips. This Kundan ring is set in brass worked in the classical Rajasthani tradition, where a base of lac or resin holds each flat-cut stone cabochon in a foiled bed, pressed firmly into place by fine gold-finish borders rather than prongs. The technique, refined over centuries in Jaipur's narrow lanes, demands a steady hand and an unhurried eye: the karigar works stone by stone, building a mosaic that catches light from every angle. Here, that mosaic is offered in three distinct moods: a deep, saturated green for drama; a pale mint that reads almost aqueous; and a soft pink that leans quietly feminine. The brass base, finished to mimic the warmth of gold, lends the ring the weight it deserves, at twenty grams, the piece sits with quiet authority on the hand. Worn over a raw-silk kurta in ivory or blush, the green or mint variant becomes the single, deliberate accent the outfit needs. For a wedding reception, the pink stone pairs beautifully with a Kanjivaram in blush or gold, letting the Kundan setting do the work that heavy jewellery might otherwise overcrowd. The ring weighs twenty grams and wears with a balanced, grounded feel. The brass construction resists everyday knocks well. To preserve the foiled stones and the finish, keep the piece away from water and store it flat, stone facing upward, in a fabric-lined box.
