Description

There are rings, and then there are rings that make the hand feel like a page from an illuminated manuscript. This Kundan ring is set in brass, worked in the traditional manner that Jaipur's foil-and-gemstone tradition made immortal. Kundan work demands patience: a base is prepared, then a central stone is cradled within refined metal foil, pressed and burnished until stone and setting become inseparable. Here, the choice of colour in both green and white speaks to the classic Mughal palette, where carved stones and foiled lacework arrived at courts and never quite left. Green suggests a cabochon in the manner of chrysoprase or glass set deep; white echoes the cool luminosity of uncut crystal. At eleven grams, the ring carries genuine presence without strain, its brass foundation giving the whole piece a warm, gilded undertone that recalls antique heirlooms rather than factory confections. Wear this with an ivory or mustard chanderi kurta at a daytime mehendi, where the green stone reads like a garden freshly watered. For evenings, pair the white variant against a deep burgundy silk saree or a velvet blouse, and the foiled setting will hold every candlelit reflection. Because the base is brass rather than silver or gold, the ring benefits from keeping it away from perfume and prolonged moisture. Store it separately in a soft pouch. At eleven grams it sits firmly on the finger, the Kundan setting flat enough for comfortable, extended wear throughout a long ceremonial day.
