Description

Among the nine grahas, Ketu stands apart: the shadow planet, the severed tail of the celestial serpent, governing liberation and the unseen. This pendant renders Ketu in sterling silver, his form iconographically precise, half-serpentine and austere, cast and hand-finished to hold every contour of the deity's traditional representation. Turn it over and you find his yantra, the sacred geometric diagram that encodes his planetary energy in a grid of numbers and lines. It is this double life, devotional image on one face, metaphysical instrument on the other, that gives the piece its quiet intelligence. At 1.3 inches tall and 1 inch wide (approximately 3.3 cm by 2.5 cm), the pendant weighs 5.88 grams, substantial enough to feel meaningful against the skin yet refined enough to sit close to the body without imposing. The silver carries a slightly antiqued finish, deepening the engraved lines of the yantra and the sculptural relief of the figure, lending the piece the gravity appropriate to a graha associated with moksha. Worn on a fine silver chain against an ivory or cream kurta, it reads as a scholar's talisman. At a family puja or a significant astrological occasion, it becomes an act of devotion made wearable. The free-size pendant suits a chain of any length, from a close choker to a longer mala-length cord. At just under six grams, it sits comfortably through long hours of wear, requiring no special care beyond occasional gentle polishing to maintain its lustre.
