Description

There are creatures in the Indian imagination that do not merely decorate; they sanctify. Cast in warm-toned brass and worked with the hand-finished precision favoured by craftsmen across the idol-making ateliers of Rajasthan and Bengal, this brooch renders two of Hinduism's most beloved symbols in a single arrestingly composed tableau. The Kamadhenu, the divine wish-fulfilling cow, stands in her characteristic frontal grace beneath the spreading canopy of the Kalpavriksha, the celestial tree that grants every desire. The composition is compact yet deeply resolved: the bovine form is etched with fine surface detailing, the tree's branches spread with quiet authority above her, and the whole piece carries the dense, grounded weight of traditional brass devotional craft. At 2.7 inches tall and 1.6 inches wide (approximately 6.9 cm by 4.1 cm), with a heft of 26 grams, it wears with the confident presence of a considered collector's piece rather than a casual accessory. Pin it to the drape of a Kanjivaram silk at a puja luncheon, or anchor the lapel of a hand-woven khadi kurta for a cultural evening where such iconography invites conversation and quiet reverence. The brooch is offered in a single free size, its pin fastening sitting flush against the reverse. The brass finish, warm and unlacquered in character, will develop a gentle patina over time, deepening the piece's antique sensibility with every wearing.
