Description

He who devours time stands at your throat, eternal and unafraid. Kaal Bhairava, the fierce manifestation of Shiva, has been a subject of devotional silverwork across temple towns from Varanasi to Thanjavur for centuries. This pendant renders him in sterling silver, his expression commanding, his iconography precise: the damaru, the trishul, the halo of power that karigars working in high-relief repoussé have long used to animate divine fury into wearable form. Sterling silver's cool, slightly matte lustre suits the gravity of the subject far better than gilt ever could. At 2.1 inches tall and 1.35 inches wide (approximately 5.3 cm by 3.4 cm), the pendant has genuine physical presence without overwhelming the chest. At 20.6 grams, you feel its weight, which itself feels appropriate: this is not a piece that disappears against the skin. Wear it on a heavy oxidised silver chain over an unstitched silk kurta for a puja or a heritage cultural gathering. Alternatively, layer it on a long black cord against a structured cotton bandhgala for a quieter, more considered statement. The free-size bail accommodates chains of varying gauges, and sterling silver develops a lived-in patina that devotees and collectors alike tend to appreciate rather than resist. A soft cloth buffing restores the original lustre when desired. This is a pendant made to be passed along, not merely worn.
