Description

She rides the crocodile, fearless and full of grace, and now she rests at your throat in sterling silver. Khodiyar Mata, beloved guardian deity of Gujarat and Rajasthan, is rendered here with the devotional exactness that folk silversmithing demands. The pendant, cast and finished in sterling silver, carries the goddess in her iconic form: seated upon her vahana, the makara, with the fine surface detail achieved through careful hand-finishing rather than plain casting alone. Silver of this quality takes on a warm, slightly oxidised depth in the recessed areas, throwing the raised figure into sharp relief and giving the piece the character of a votive object rather than a commercial trinket. At roughly 3.3 cm tall and 2.5 cm wide, the silhouette is compact but unhurried, and the 6.2 grams of sterling silver lend it a reassuring, honest weight on the chest. Wear it on a fine silver chain against a cream or ivory kurta for daily puja mornings, the goddess sitting close to the heart exactly as tradition intends. For festive occasions, layer it over a deep red or mustard bandhani dupatta, where the silver catches the light with quiet authority. The pendant suits a standard chain fitting and is offered in one universal size, making it equally wearable from Ahmedabad to Auckland. Sterling silver requires only occasional gentle polishing to maintain its lustre, and with mindful daily wear it will only grow more beautiful over time.
