Description

She guards the crossroads, and now she rests close to the heart. Khodiyar Mata, the beloved folk deity of Gujarat and Rajasthan, is rendered here in sterling silver with the quiet authority her devotees have always accorded her. The rectangular silhouette, measuring 1.35 inches in height by 0.85 inches in width (approximately 3.4 cm by 2.2 cm), frames the goddess in a format reminiscent of votive plaques carried by pilgrims for generations. Weighing 10 grams, the pendant has enough substance to feel considered rather than incidental. The surface work follows a tradition of repousse and hand-engraved detailing familiar to silver craftsmen across the artisan belts of Rajasthan and Gujarat, where the goddess holds particular reverence. The silver is polished to a bright finish that catches light without ostentation, allowing the devotional iconography to remain the focal point rather than the metal itself. Worn on a fine silver chain over an ivory or saffron cotton kurta, this pendant bridges daily devotion and considered dressing. It is equally at home layered with other silverwork over a silk blouse at a family puja or a festive gathering where personal faith and personal style arrive together. Free-sized and designed to sit comfortably at the collarbone or mid-chest depending on chain length, this piece requires no special care beyond gentle polishing. Sterling silver worn regularly develops a warm patina that, with a soft cloth, returns easily to its original brightness.
