Description

She guards the crossroads, and now she rests at the hollow of your throat. Khodiyar Mata, the beloved folk goddess of Gujarat, is rendered here in sterling silver with the devotional clarity that village shrine metalwork has always demanded. The pendant sits small and sure: 1.4 inches tall by 1.15 inches wide (approximately 3.6 cm by 2.9 cm), its compact silhouette pressed into a relief portrait of the goddess, her form emerging from oxidised recesses that lend depth and shadow to every detail. Sterling silver, at 5.2 grams, carries real weight in the hand without heaviness at the neck. The surface likely alternates between a burnished high-polish and a deliberate darkening in the grooves, a finish rooted in the tradition of folk-devotional silverwork practised across Rajasthan and Gujarat, where silver has long been the metal of sacred and everyday adornment alike. The bail is sized for a fine chain, a cord, or a slender silk thread. Wear it on a black cotton kurta for a quiet Tuesday puja, where it reads as an act of private faith. Or layer it over a cream silk blouse with a Bandhani dupatta for a festive gathering, where it holds its own without competing. The piece is free-sized, requiring no fitting consideration. Sterling silver of this weight wears comfortably throughout the day and develops a gentle patina over time. A soft cloth restores its brightness whenever you wish.
