Description

There are prayers older than language, and this pendant holds one of them. The Om symbol has been rendered in devotional jewellery across India for centuries, from the silver-working ateliers of Rajasthan to the temple-craft traditions of the south. Here it arrives in sterling silver, its form clean and deliberate, measuring approximately 3.8 cm in height and 3.3 cm in width. Set across the face of the pendant are nine stones arranged in the Navaratna configuration, that ancient cosmological grouping of gemstones believed to represent the nine celestial bodies. The colours follow the traditional sequence: ruby red at the centre, ringed by a constellation of complementary hues. At ten grams, the piece carries genuine weight in the hand, the kind that speaks of substance rather than ornament. The bail is crafted to accept a chain of standard gauge, and the finish is polished to a brightness that allows the stone settings to hold their colour without competition. Wear it on a fine silver chain over an ivory chanderi kurta for a morning puja or a festive family gathering. It sits equally well against the neckline of a silk blouse beneath a Benarasi sari on occasions that call for understated devotion rather than spectacle. At free size and 10 g, this is a pendant light enough for daily wear. The sterling silver will age gracefully with minimal care, and the compact silhouette ensures it layers cleanly with other fine chains without crowding.
