Description

Lace, rendered permanent in sterling silver. Tarakasi, the ancient Odishan art of silver filigree, asks its karigar to draw molten metal into threads finer than breath, then coil and press them into forms so open and airy they seem to defy the weight of the material itself. This ring carries that discipline in full: a broad, architecturally confident face measuring approximately 2.9 cm in height and width, built from interlaced silver wires worked into a dense floral lattice. The surface holds no stone and needs none; the negative space between the threads is the ornament. At 9.18 grams, the piece is present on the hand without heaviness, and the adjustable shank means the silver can be coaxed gently to fit, a practical grace that preserves the delicate fretwork at the band's sides. Wear it against the deep indigo of a Chanderi kurta for an afternoon gathering, where the oxidised shadows in the filigree will pick up the warp of the fabric. For an evening occasion, let it anchor a bare hand beside a silk sari blouse, where its sculptural openwork speaks without competing. The adjustable band opens and closes at the back in a single smooth movement; no hinge, no clasp to catch on thread. Sterling silver worn close to the skin develops a gentle patina over time, and a soft cloth restores its brightness whenever you wish.
