Description

There are devotions that do not require a temple, only a willing heart and something beautiful to carry close. Shrinathji, the child form of Krishna whose worship flowered in the haveli tradition of Nathdwara, is here rendered in hand-painted detail on a round sterling silver pendant. The painting tradition that informs this piece draws from the same devotional impulse as pichwai cloth art, where every brushstroke is an act of reverence rather than mere decoration. The circular disc, measuring nearly seven and a half centimetres in height and just under seven centimetres in width (2.9 inches by 2.75 inches), is worked in sterling silver, its weight of 23.6 grams giving it a satisfying, unhurried presence against the chest. The painted surface, rich with the colours shown, sits within the silver frame with the quiet confidence of a miniature made to last beyond a single lifetime. Worn on a long antique silver chain, this pendant becomes the anchor of a contemplative everyday look, pairing beautifully with an ivory or indigo handloom kurta. For festive occasions, let it rest over a dark silk blouse beneath a Banarasi or Paithani drape, where it reads as both jewel and offering. Free sized and requiring no adjustment, the pendant sits gracefully at the sternum. Sterling silver of this weight is durable enough for regular wear; keep it wrapped in soft cloth away from perfume and moisture to preserve the hand-painted surface for years to come.
