Description

Devotion, rendered in silver, worn close to the heart. The tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh, is depicted here in sterling silver with the quiet authority of a portrait that has been studied and loved for centuries. Cast and hand-finished, the pendant carries his likeness in careful relief, the fine-grain surface of the metal catching light in the manner of old votive objects rather than commercial keepsakes. Sterling silver, at its characteristic cool lustre, suits the solemnity of the subject; this is not decorative piety but an act of craft. The pendant measures approximately 7.6 centimetres in height and 7.1 centimetres in width, a presence that reads clearly against the chest without excess. At 20 grams, it carries the satisfying weight of considered metalwork, and the free-size fitting means it moves easily between cord, chain or thread according to personal tradition. Wear it on a black cotton cord beneath a white kurta for quiet, everyday remembrance, or layer it over a deep navy angarkha for Gurpurab celebrations where the silver will hold its own against richer textiles. The pendant is finished to a smooth, even surface that resists everyday wear gracefully. Sterling silver does patina over time; a soft cloth restores its brightness in moments. At 3 inches tall and just under 3 inches wide, it is generous without being unwieldy, a piece that sits comfortably on both men and women who wish to carry faith in wearable form.
