Description

There are tigers that pace, and there are tigers that hold court. This seated tiger brooch is cast in warm brass, the animal rendered mid-repose with a composure that belongs more to a palace emblem than to the wild. The motif draws on a long tradition of royal animal iconography found across Rajput and Mughal decorative metalwork, where the tiger signified sovereignty and protection. Here, the beast sits upright, its presence weighty in the hand at forty-six grams, its silhouette spanning approximately seven and a half centimetres in height and six and a half centimetres in width. The green glass eyes are set flush into the cast brass face, lending the piece an arresting focal point. The brass itself carries the burnished warmth of antique gilded metal, aged and intentional rather than merely ornate. Pin this to the lapel of an ivory chanderi kurta at a mehendi or a literary gathering, and it becomes a conversation about craft rather than ornamentation. Worn on a structured black blazer, it reads as wearable sculpture, entirely suited to a gallery opening or a formal dinner where jewellery is expected to carry meaning. The brooch pin at the reverse is sturdy and designed to sit flush on medium-weight fabric without sagging. Free-sized and fuss-free, it requires no maintenance beyond occasional polishing with a soft cloth to preserve the brass's warm depth.
