Description

There is a quiet geology to this pendant, as though a fragment of storm cloud has been caught in silver and stilled. The Gray Druzy Pendant (LBH51) draws its character from a single slice of druzy quartz, its surface a constellation of tiny interlocked crystals that hold light the way frost holds morning. The stone sits encased in sterling silver, a bezel setting that lets the mineral speak without interruption. Sterling silver, prized for its cool lustre and workable purity, has a long presence in Indian craft traditions, particularly in the workshops of Rajasthan and Bengal where silversmiths treat the metal with the same seriousness given to gold. Here, the setting is kept spare and architectural, the silver framing the druzy's natural texture rather than competing with it. The pendant measures approximately 3 centimetres in height and 1.3 centimetres in width, and weighs a precise 5.82 grams, light enough to forget you are wearing it. Pair it with a raw silk kurta in ivory or slate for a lunch that asks for understated elegance. It reads equally well against the neckline of a fine merino sweater during winter evenings when the occasion is quiet and the dressing considered. The free-size bail fits most chain thicknesses, from a fine silver box chain to a slightly heavier foxtail. Sterling silver develops a gentle patina over time; a soft cloth is all it needs to return to its original clarity.
