Description

She who governs speech, music and wisdom now rests close to the heart. The Saraswati Yantra is among the most considered of devotional geometries: concentric lotuses, sacred triangles and the bindu at the centre, each element a cartographic notation of the goddess's grace. This pendant translates that ancient diagram into sterling silver, the metal worked to a clean, bright finish that keeps every line of the yantra legible and precise. The form sits at 1.3 inches (approximately 3.3 cm) in height and 1 inch (approximately 2.5 cm) in width, weighing a grounded 10 grams, substantial enough to carry intention without heaviness. The tradition of wearing yantra jewellery is rooted in both Shaivite and Vaishnava practice, and the silversmith's discipline here lies in fidelity to proportion: a yantra misdrawn is a yantra diminished. Layer it over a cream Chanderi kurta for Vasant Panchami, when Saraswati is worshipped and pale yellows and whites carry the season's meaning. It works equally well worn long over a plain silk blouse with a Kanjivaram sari at a graduation or debut recital, occasions where learning and creative achievement are being honoured. Free-sized with a standard bail to accommodate most chains, the pendant pairs with a fine silver or oxidised silver chain. The sterling silver construction suits daily wear, resisting tarnish well with minimal care, and the compact silhouette sits flat against the collarbone without snagging on fabric.
