Description

She watches over the wearer with the unhurried certainty of a deity who has been venerated for centuries. Samayapuram Mariamman, the fierce and tender form of Parvati worshipped at the great Tamil Nadu shrine, is rendered here in sterling silver with a devotion that honours both the goddess and the craft. The silhouette, measuring 1.85 inches (4.7 cm) in height and 0.85 inches (2.2 cm) in width, follows the iconographic tradition of South Indian temple jewellery: the goddess depicted in full regalia, her crown and ornamentation worked in fine repoussé and chasing, the kind of surface narrative that silversmiths in Tamil Nadu and Bengal have carried forward across generations. The sterling silver is finished to a warm, oxidised tone that deepens every engraved line, making the relief of the face, the crown and the garments read with quiet clarity. At 12.6 grams, the pendant carries genuine substance without feeling heavy against the chest. Wear this pendant on a simple black silk cord for daily puja or festive mornings, letting it rest over a Kanjivaram silk blouse or a fine cotton kurta. For a ceremonial occasion, thread it onto a delicate silver chain alongside other devotional pieces in an antique finish to build a layered temple-jewellery effect. The free-size bail accommodates most standard chains comfortably. The oxidised sterling silver requires only occasional gentle cleaning with a soft cloth and is robust enough for regular, reverent wear.
