Description

She who faces every direction, rendered in silver that carries the weight of devotion. Pratyangira, the fierce and protective goddess of the Shaiva and Shakta traditions, is among the rarest subjects in Indian devotional jewellery. Worshipped most fervently in Tamil Nadu and parts of Bengal, she embodies both terror and grace, and this sterling silver pendant honours that duality with quiet conviction. Cast and finished by hand, the piece presents the goddess in her iconic form, the lion-headed aspect that commands immediate recognition among the faithful. Sterling silver, with its cool, bright surface, suits the severity of her iconography far better than gilt alternatives would. The pendant measures 1.75 inches in height by 1.2 inches in width (approximately 4.4 cm by 3 cm) and weighs 13.14 grams, giving it a satisfying presence without excess. Wear it against a Kanjivaram silk blouse in deep crimson or temple green for Navaratri puja, where the silver will catch candlelight beautifully. It is equally at home on a plain white chanderi kurta for a collector who carries their faith as quietly as their aesthetic. A standard free-size bail accommodates most chains, from a simple silver box chain to a black waxed cord for a more austere, devotional register. The sterling silver finish resists daily tarnish well when stored in a dry cloth pouch, making this a pendant one genuinely reaches for, not merely displays.
