Description

She is not widely worshipped, and that is precisely what makes her extraordinary. Pithad is one of the lesser-sung forms of Devi Durga, venerated quietly in regional folk traditions where the goddess takes on a more intimate, localised presence. This pendant renders her in sterling silver, worked with the careful attention that devotional jewellery demands. The figure is compact yet full of presence, measuring 1.3 inches (approximately 3.3 cm) in height and 1 inch (approximately 2.5 cm) in width, and weighing just 5.3 grams. The silver carries a slightly oxidised or antiqued finish typical of devotional silverwork, allowing the relief of the goddess form to emerge with definition and shadow. No gemstones interrupt the surface; the craft relies entirely on the articulation of the metal itself, its planes and recesses doing the work that colour might otherwise perform. The pendant sits within a tradition of sacred silver jewellery that has long connected the wearer to a specific deity, a specific geography, a specific act of faith. Worn on a fine silver chain over a silk kurta at a puja gathering, she becomes both ornament and offering. Against a cotton bandhani dupatta at a quiet family festival, she speaks of regional devotion worn close to the body. At 5.3 grams, the pendant sits lightly at the collarbone without pulling. Free size means the chain choice is entirely your own. The sterling silver construction makes this a piece suited to daily, reverential wear.
