Description

She arrives bearing abundance, her form rising from lotus and kalash in sterling silver that carries the weight of devotion. Rooted in the iconographic language of South Indian temple silver, this pendant renders Goddess Mahalakshmi on her twin pedestals of sanctity: the purna kalash, vessel of plenty, and the open lotus, seat of grace. Cast and hand-finished in sterling silver, the piece captures the goddess in frontal hieratic posture, her multiple arms extended in the gestures of blessing and bestowal that silversmiths across Nagercoil and the temple-town workshops of Tamil Nadu have refined over generations. The surface holds a warm oxidised depth in the recesses, while raised details catch light against a brushed ground, giving the composition its sacred, icon-like presence. At 1.25 inches in height by 1.2 inches in length (approximately 3.2 cm by 3 cm) and weighing 6.12 grams, the pendant sits with quiet authority without feeling heavy on the chest. Wear it on a fine antique silver chain against the neckline of a Kanjivaram silk saree for a festival puja or wedding ceremony, or let it rest on a plain cream kurta on Fridays, the day consecrated to Lakshmi, as a private act of remembrance. The free-size bail accommodates most chain gauges. The oxidised sterling silver finish is forgiving in daily wear and benefits from occasional polishing with a soft cloth to restore its gentle lustre.
