Description

She arrives carrying the oldest promises: abundance, grace, and the quiet authority of lotus water. Rooted in the South Indian temple jewellery tradition, this pendant renders Goddess Lakshmi in sterling silver with the reverence that the Nagercoil and Tanjore workshops have long brought to devotional silverwork. The goddess stands at the centre, framed by an outward flow of lotus petals and a cascade of coin-like drops that echo the iconographic rain of gold she is forever depicted releasing. The silhouette measures 1.15 inches in height (approximately 2.9 cm) and weighs a considered 4.8 grams, light enough to rest naturally at the collarbone without pulling. The sterling silver has been worked to a bright, burnished finish that catches light the way a temple lamp does at dusk, warm and deliberate. No stone setting interrupts the composition; the craft speaks entirely through form, relief and the clean articulation of each petal and coin. Wear this pendant on a silk thread or a fine silver chain against the neckline of a Kanjivaram or a deep-coloured chanderi kurta on festival days. It reads equally well against ivory cotton or a subtle printed georgette for occasions where you wish to carry something sacred without ceremony. At free size, the pendant suits any chain gauge a wearer already owns. Sterling silver at this weight is resilient for daily devotion and easy to maintain with a soft cloth. A piece for both the prayer room and the world beyond it.
