Description

She who brings abundance sits at the centre of this pendant, as she has sat at the centre of devotion for centuries. Cast in sterling silver and finished in your choice of a bright Polish or an aged Vintage patina, this piece belongs to the temple jewellery tradition, a lineage that once adorned deity figures in South Indian sanctuaries before finding its way to the throat and wrist. Goddess Lakshmi is rendered seated on a full-bloom lotus, her posture composed and sovereign. The Polish finish measures one inch in height by 0.7 inches (approximately 2.5 cm by 1.8 cm), compact and precise; the Vintage finish is rendered slightly larger at 1.2 inches by 0.85 inches (approximately 3 cm by 2.2 cm), its oxidised silver deepening every line of the carving. At 9.35 grams, the silver carries real presence without weight. Wear the Vintage finish on a long antique silver chain over a Kanjivaram silk at a puja gathering, where the oxidised surface reads like an heirloom retrieved from a grandmother's jewellery box. The Polish finish pairs equally well with a white cotton kurta on an ordinary Tuesday, its brightness a quiet, daily invocation. Both finishes are offered in a free size setting, designed to suit standard chain gauges. Sterling silver of this weight is resilient enough for daily wear, though occasional polishing will keep the bright version luminous and the Vintage version true to its considered, time-worn character.
