Description

She emerges from the void, sovereign and luminous, cast entire in sterling silver. The iconography here is faithful to the Bengali devotional tradition that has honoured Mahakali for centuries: the goddess rendered in high relief, her many arms fanning outward in precise symmetry, each gesture caught mid-ritual. Sterling silver, worked to this level of figurative detail, demands a silversmith who understands both the metal's ductility and the weight of what he is making. At 4.26 grams, the pendant carries real presence without excess. The silhouette measures 1.3 inches in height by 0.85 inches in width (approximately 3.3 cm by 2.2 cm), proportions generous enough to hold the full composition without crowding the collarbone. The finish reads as bright polish against deeper oxidised recesses, a technique that draws the eye into carved detail rather than across a flat surface. Wear it on a fine silver chain over a Banarasi blouse for Navratri, the pendant catching candlelight at the throat. For everyday devotion, it sits equally well against a plain cotton kurta, a quiet statement of faith in restrained silver. Free-sized for a pendant of this type means no sizing consideration is needed; the bail accepts most standard chains. The piece is light enough for daily wear, and sterling silver responds well to a soft cloth polish when the oxidised finish is to be preserved.
