Description

She stands at the threshold between creation and dissolution, rendered in sterling silver with an intention that borders on devotion. This pendant draws on a long tradition of devotional silverwork that has flourished across Bengal and the temple-craft corridors of South India, where the iconography of Goddess Kali is treated not as decoration but as theology made tangible. Cast and hand-finished in sterling silver, the piece captures her in characteristic fierce grace: a form that demands stillness from the person who wears it. The silver carries a deliberately oxidised antiqued finish, allowing shadow to collect in the relief details of the goddess's expression, crown and outstretched arms, lending the image a depth that flat polishing would erase. At 1.2 inches in height (approximately 3 centimetres) and weighing 10.3 grams, the pendant has a satisfying solidity without heaviness. Wear it on a fine sterling chain against an unbleached cotton kurta for a contemplative, unhurried look; or let it anchor a silk blouse beneath a Banarasi sari on an occasion that calls for quietly worn meaning rather than spectacle. The piece is a free size, designed to pair with chains of standard loop gauges. The oxidised finish is low-maintenance and deepens gracefully with wear, requiring only an occasional gentle clean with a soft cloth to keep the detailing legible. For those who keep devotional jewellery close to the body, the weight and scale here are precisely right.
