Description

She has been invoked at sunrise for millennia, and now she rests, radiant, at the throat. Goddess Gayatri, the mother of the Vedas, is rendered here in sterling silver with the quiet authority of devotional silversmithing. The pendant captures her in characteristic form, serene and many-armed, worked in fine relief against a silver ground that carries the warm, slightly oxidised depth characteristic of traditional votive iconography. This craft of pressing divine form into silver, building up detail through careful chasing and finishing, has long been practised by silversmiths who understand that a deity's likeness demands patience above all else. At 1.20 inches in height (roughly 3 cm) and 0.70 inches in width (roughly 1.78 cm), the silhouette is intimate rather than declarative. Weighing just 3 grams, the piece sits close to the skin without pull or heaviness. Wear it on a fine silver chain over a white cotton kurta for morning puja, letting the oxidised relief catch the light as you move. For a more composed occasion, pair it with a pale silk saree and a simple silver chain, where the pendant becomes the only adornment needed. The sterling silver has been finished to emphasise the carved relief, with raised surfaces brightened and recessed areas darkened to give the goddess genuine visual presence. The bail is proportioned for chains of standard gauge, and the 3-gram weight makes it comfortable through a full day of wear.
